I have tried both valproate and lamotrigine (both for bipolar disorder) and neither had an effect on visual snow. I was on a pretty high dose of valproate (can't remember the dosage) and am on 100mg/day of lamotrigine so can't speak for higher dosages.

Be very careful with lamotrigine.  Get any rash checked out immediately (it can cause lots of benign rashes, but the nasty one it causes is deadly so don't take any risks).

It appears from reading some of these threads that what works for some doesn't work for others. I tried sertraline and it made my VS worse, although that could have been due to the fact that it triggered mania in me which can make VS more pronounced.
