My name is david and I am also a sufferer of VS/hppd/Lyme - or what else are causing my visual disturbances… My symptoms are: - Extreme afterimages 8/10 (positive/negative) from really everything. Sometimes they are floating away. Then when I read for a while on a computer screen the text is floating downside away (f.e. dark background, bright text) and I can see the negative afterimage of the text. When I look away it disappears… - Visual snow/static 5/10 - Trailers 5/10 it’s like a matrix effect. If my hands are moving i can see the trails after them. - Double vision 6/10 I see a ghosting outline of people/things; ghosting image under (if I am lying in bed or general lying on the back) and upper a bright text with dark background (especially on television or Smartphone). If I squint it gets worse. Sometimes my double vision becomes a red shimmer on things. When I look on the digits on my Smartphone there comes a ghosting image right and above it. - Halos/glares/starbursts 6/10 I see a belly and a violet shimmering under lamps in the night -Patterns 7/10 I see a always especially on a white screen/paper/walls different patterns and on bright walls I see a blueish pattern…weird stuff -Light sensitivy 8/10 if something glares me i see diffenerent colours but mostly violett -Floaters, blue entopic phenomena 5/10 -light phenomenas 5/10 I see sometimes without a reason different colours, colour spots/lines… to my person: i smoked a lot of weed but i stopped after that, had many eye exams and a brain exam...everything came back normal. So what could this shit be? My life is a nightmare, I am not quite sure how long I can live with that…day by day its getting more worse… What do you think guys? Lg

Registered User Posts: 8 02/01/12 2:42 PM	Sorry for my english I come from Poland. I have almost the same problems as you. I have made all medicat test, MRI x 4, TK and a lot of other thinks. All ist ok but i see almost like you. Trailers, Double vision, Patterns, Afterimages, Floaters, Halos ALL This shit.

Do you suffer from panic attacks or anxiety? And why the hell I read so often "smoked weed" - what do you think, could it be really a HPPD problem?

Registered User Posts: 8 02/01/12 3:03 PM	I have this problem for almost 3 years. at the beginning i had only tinnitus. Few months later problems with my vision is started to getting worse and worse. At the beginnig was only halo effect, than came other vision distortion. now i have all what you have. For about 2 months i see white paper a litte blue . it is something new. I have made about 40-50 different medical research. Everything is normal . I have tried a lot of different medication. Nothing was helped. I was visiting about 15 doctors. No one was helped me. I don't know what should i do and where to go. I would help you if I will know how to solve this problem but i don't know. I had a lot of panic attacks but now I'm trying to live with it. Here's a thread I posted before: http://thosewithvisualsno...nyone-get-these-symptoms My most troublesome symptom is the double vision (very similar to your description), followed by the visual snow. Next comes rays of light and starbursts. I also experience mild halos and after-images, but these are not that bad and so do not bother me much. Other minor disturbances include blotches of colour in my vision, and sometimes when I am reading it seems like the text is moving. I had an MRI scan on Monday, and so will hopefully get the results in a few days. I am seeing a neurologist this coming Monday. I am researching in my free time and should I find any medications or anything else that may help, I will be sure to share.

My doctor was told me that i should be happy that all is normal but this visual distortion make my life very bad. I don't understand it why so much people suffer with this kind of problems and no one was found a cure for it

There are some medications which have provided some relief for some people, but it seems as though there is a lot of hit and miss, and what may work for one person may not work for another. I have yet to try any medications, but hope to be able to start some in the near future.

I would like to create a long list with links to threads, but this would take a long time and I am very busy at the moment with my studies. A few examples include: Acupuncture Various supplements Various medications (Keppra seems to have helped a lot of people) Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Vipassana 10 day mediation course It is important to note that what may be suitable for one person may not be suitable for another, and so it is best to do as much research as possible on anything you try first. Have you ever taken any drugs? Do you suffer from any other symptoms (headaches, tiredness, etc)? Our condition is very rare, and so not many medical professionals know about it and even less have any idea how best to treat it, and so your best doctor is probably going to be yourself.

I have found that alcohol possibly made my symptoms worse, and so I have stopped drinking it for the time being. I have only visual and hearing symptoms. no headaches (i feel like a quick pulse in my brain) Before my problems i didn;t have it. I have had a panic atack but now is much better. Thanks to this forum and some other forums in poland I know that not only me have the same problem. Before i have found this forum I thought that only I have this kind of problems. I have thought that I will lose my sight. Im' sure that the best doctor in this situation is me and my tests. about tests which I've made: MRI x4 in 3 years - all ok Tomography - ok All eyes exam - all ok potentials - all ok all laryngology exams - all ok complete blood exam with bacteriological tests - all ok Only think that i found is a litte problem with my thyroid but it is almost in norm I have took a lot of different meds but i know only polish names. Nothing from it have helped me

MDMA (ecstasy) seems to be mentioned a lot, but marijuana on its own seems to only in very rare instances cause HPPD. See some comments by Dr. Abraham (probably the leading MD with regards to HPPD): http://amrglobal.powweb.c...tion-disorder#comment-37 When researching medications that may help, remember that a lot of people on this and other forums suffer from depression, anxiety, and depersonalisation/derealisation, and so medications they are recommending may be more suitable to those aspects rather than the visual abnormalities. I do not suffer from the above symptoms and so I am also only looking at medications that will help visual disturbances. I'd recommend against going down the benzo medication route, if you do a search you will find many threads as to why e.g. http://thosewithvisualsno.../44826/Benzos-a-warning. If you do then make sure you do a lot of research first.

I guess people really can get Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder from weed, cocaine, alcohol, SSRIs,etc. By the way, if you don't want responses, maybe you shouldn't bump 10 old threads per day. The only one of those substances which I mentioned was marijuana, which is in fact a hallucinogen. I've noticed that you have a habit of twisting what people say and make out they have said something different to what they have actually said through reckless hyperbole. Anyway, I'm not one for this keyboard warrior online bickering malarkey, so I'll leave it at that. Please can we not disrupt a constructive thread with this childishness.

The problem is that I did't use it for a long time and my visual and hearing distortion appear about 2 years after last use of any drugs. I will try some new meds. For now I have to read stories from other people and what have helped. I have only visual and hearing distortion. Is it something which help for this such of distortion? You can wear sun glasses, hear music (this is what i do against my tinnitus) and you can try medications.
