I think it's time to go to a doctor |

I've been in good health for pretty much my whole life. I've had VS for as long as I can remember but didn't realize it wasn't normal until
about 6 months ago. Now, I may be a bit of a hypochondriac, but I feel like I should go to a doctor for an MRI. I've been getting random, quick sharp pains
on the back, top, and sides of my head for a couple weeks now. Sometimes I get them a few times a day and sometimes I go days without getting them. I don't
know what they are but my mind is buzzing with all types of ideas. Brain lesions, tumors, MS...

Indeed it would, but remember not to get too worked up.
What you are experiencing is a sign of many things ranging from anxiety all the way to vitamin defiencies! so think about these first before you over panic about MS |

MS has alot more noticeable things than head pain... im not even sure if MS or a tumor could cause that.

I question everything. i will question this snow, i will ask it what it wants, i will ask it why it's here, and ill ask it when it plans to leave. so far it has declined to answer. when it does.... i may make a mess on myself. |

You should always see the doctor (or at least call) when you get new headaches or a change in headaches. Don't feel guilty about going- it is what you are
supposed to do. Plus you'll feel a lot better after wards.

I've had those kind of head pains as long as I've had VS, from around 9.It's nothing to worry about.Definitely had them less since starting
anti-anxiety treatment.But I'm surprised you've not been to a doctor yet.Like everyone's saying, knowing there's nothing majorly wrong makes
you feel a whole lot better.

I have also had brief periods of a few days at a time when this comes back. My MRI was clear. I do not think you really need to worry about Brain tumours, MS or whatever because of this, but I definitely think it is worth seeing a doctor because it will rule out anything serious and hopefully make you feel better. I just wanted to point out that such things are common with VS, so don't worry yourself too much over it |

Yes! go to a doctor, the more patients coming forward with this VS, the more noticed we will get! If everyone with VS stays hidden, we won't have enough
data for someone in the future to look at and maybe put some research into it! I say, even if you know they are not going to find anything, if you have the
insurance, educate your doctor! We need more acceptance in the medical comunity, I can't advocate that enough!!!

well, being that so many people here have had MRIs and nothing's been wrong... im not too worried about getting an MRI. well, actually, id be more afraid
of the MRI itself than what they find in it - i hear those things are horrible to get.

So I found this to be kind of interesting. Some people on the board have mentioned their necks being messed up, here may be a trick to determine if that's
what's causing sharp head pains.
"What causes sharp shooting pains in your head and is it serious?" "These are more common than people know. I've had them myself. Sometimes it can be caused by a pinched nerve in the neck. Nerve endings are all over the body, so if one is pinched it can travel somewhere else in your body. It's nothing to worry about, but if it keeps bothering you please see your doctor. Here's a test to find out if it's a pinched nerve in your neck or shoulders. Take the fingers of both hands and press together the muscle on the very tops of your shoulders. See if this will take the shooting pains away. If it doesn't then take both hands and place on the back of your neck and press forward and hold this position. If it's a pinched nerve then this shooting pains should go away. If it does have someone give you a good shoulder and neck rub. I often use A535 rub and by the next day it's gone." Here's the original website for those interested: http://wiki.answers.com/Q...r_head_and_is_it_serious

Great link courtney, not been on the board much so missed your message for a while sorry!! yeah i go through periods of getting these sharp pains. Like one
month i'll get loads, then none for 2-3 months. I do think i may have something wrong with my neck although my mri covered my brain and neck and nothing
was picked up.
For me the pains can be so sharp then make me gasp, then gone.... it worried me for a time but i seem to have them less at the mo so all good. Go see your doc though seriously. I don't think anything is seriously wrong with you but i bet it'll make you feel better and thats why they are there!! This is your life don't let a doc intimidate you!! Demand an MRI if you feel it'll help you. I did and have worried oodles less since xxxx |

I am very claustrophobic, but do pretty well in the "Stand Up" MRIs. Forget about a regular MRI or "open" MRI - their idea of
'open' doesn't mean open in my book! It is still noisy as heck, but the entire front of the body is really open and the place I go to even has me
watch a widescreen TV while I'm in there.
Anyway, I get the sharp pains all the time, and my MRI's have been fine basically (other than a disappearing and then reappearing pituitary gland!) It is always good to see a doctor to rule out anything serious, especially if you are worried about it!!! We don't need any more stress in our lives, that is for sure!!! |
