Alright, I've been lurking around this site for a while trying to figure out if I have VS. Here's my short story:
around 4 months ago I got this bad pressure behind both of my eyes. it really freaked me out because I thought I was going blind. I got really depressed. Because of this and other general anxiety problems I've always had my doc put me on Zoloft/Xanax. He thought the pressure was just from my sinus so I tried dozens of different antihistamines. Didn't work. I went to an Ear/Nose/Throat and got a CT Scan. He said my sinus area was generally fine, but structurally my nasal passage area was sort of jumbled together/crooked.
Now after about 4 months of trying antibiotcs, antihistamines, sinus cleansing, etc. the pressure is about 90% gone. I do sometimes wake up with what I think are sinus headaches, but the pressure behind my eyes is mostly gone (not totally).
Now, it seems my VS began around the time I stopped taking Zoloft/Xanax. I stopped b/c of light sensitivity and because I didn't think I needed it. I'm frusturated because I don't know whether or not the pressure behind my eyes or the Zoloft/Xanax started my VS symptoms.
I don't think my VS is nearly as strong as some members' here, but I'll try to describe it. Right when I began Zoloft I noticed light shining off cars were extremely bright. I told the doc and he took me off it. (Keep in mind this whole time I'm dealing with the pressure around/behind my eyes). After stopping the Zoloft is when negative after images seemed to last extra long. I didn't worry too much because I thought it was just some Zoloft side effects. Around that same time period that I stopped the Zoloft (and the pressure behind the eyes) is when I began noticing a light static. This was only noticeable in my room at night with a dim light on. It was noticeable during the day ONLY if I looked at a rug, towel, or something with a lot of fibers. It looks as if every single fiber in the rug or towel was very lightly shimmering/shaking. Outdoors when driving or walking my vision is as clear as can be. I do notice the retinal white blood cells pretty obviously when looking at the sky or even my computer screen. Flotares are also more annoying than ever. I am also very sensitive and notice every little thing about my vision.
What do you all make of this? I'm just depressed b/c of the fear of blindness.
