Hello to everyone,
I have been reading the forum for quite some time but have not posted any messeges within the past 3 or more years. I continue to have the visual snow,
static, persistent aura and have not been able to find pharmaceuticals the eliminate the visual disturbances. However, I have found combination use of
Klonopin and Adderall OR Klonopin and Provigil, make for a manageable life (at least for myself). Since my last posts, I have tried everything from, Provigil,
Suboxone, Effexor, Lasix, Baclofen, Concerta, Xanax, Neurontin, Depakote, Topomax, Flexeril, and a few others. So, its nice to get back into the community,
I'm amazed with the growth of the community and look forward to catching up the latest research and direction of future research.

I am a 54 year old female software engineer. I developed VS after a 3 week vacation about 1 year ago. Onset of my VS occurred after a sudden bout of
severe vertigo that persisted even with my eyes closed--the world just kept spinning. Afterwords, I had double vision, visual static (similar to the static
on flat screen tv with the picture off), extreme light sensitivity, neck pain, tinnitus. My doctor ordered every test in the book (including MRI and blood
flow study to the brain, cortisol levels, blood tests, blood tests, blood tests) to try to diagnose the problem, but none of my tests came back abnormal. He
sent me to a neurologist who diagnosed me with "persistent positive visual pheonomenon". The neurologist insisted that I had a history of taking
hallucinigins, which I have never touched. I have no previous history of chronic migraines; I had a history of optic migraines without headache about 1 or 2
times per year. In the last year, it seems that my visual static has gotten so bad that it is difficult for me to read, and I am worried that I will go blind.
I wonder if working under fluorescent lights 11 hours per day on an LCD monitor might be causing my problems (unfortunately, this is a requirment of my
profession). My VS is usually at its worst when I wake up in the morning, which is quite puzzling to me....what happens during sleep while my brain is resting
that makes me worse? Also I seem to wake up in the morning with RED eyes (whites of eyes are completely red).
I have tried chiropractic care, vitamins and supplements, acupuncture for migraine treatment. Acupuncture got rid of my neck pain, but did not help vision.
Nothing else has given me relief, and I feel like I am getting worse. Of course, I am afraid of having a undiagnosable condition ("perisistent positive
visual phenomenon" is a garbage can diagnosis) that keeps getting worse. I am currently trying zeaxanthin, lutein, and biliberry. I have only been on
these for 1 day but would be interested in hearing from anyone who might have tried these supplements on a long-term basis to see if it helps.
