Hello Sorami, thank you for sending me your VS picture which I have posted at the webpage (see link above) While I can not say it for 100% sure, I would say after all I have learnt about persistent perception disturbances that are present (with more or less stable intensity) for as long as one can remember, that the most likely cause is a variety (or in a sense a complication) of migraine with aura, which is called persistent aura. It is remarkable that these subjects have a positive family history for migraine at a way higher rate than would be expected by chance alone (i.e. 5-10%). You have also mentioned that your mother and your aunts from mothers side have a migraine. So it can be conceived that probably a gene for migraine has been inherited (it is present in 5-10% of the entire population, so it's a common disorder) and that the migraine has manifested at a very early age with a persistent aura, so that you experience it as having it for as long as you remember. If you choose to speak with a doctor (best a neurologist) about it, he or she will probably make a scan of the head, which will almost certainly be o.k. (but according to the rules of best medical practise, one should make such a scan once just to make sure). As you have it for so long, and if it doesn't bother you very much, one will probably not attempt whether a medication can be helpful (the problem with the medication is that is does not help in all cases anyway). Nervertheless it may be useful for you to know about all this, because it can help you just in case there should ever occur other symptoms of migraine, e.g. the headache attacks, or other aura symptoms - then you can get a quick checkup and one can recommend what best to to in such case.
What was your own way of thinking about that? what did you think about what causes it? did you speak about it with others?
